Dr Oren Becher

Oren Becher MD is the division chief of the Jack Martin Fund division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s hospital in New York City.  Dr. Becher is a professor of Pediatrics and Oncological Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the Steven Ravitch Chair in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. Dr. Becher received his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed his pediatrics residency at Children’s National Medical Center.  He then completed a pediatric hematology-oncology and pediatric neuro-oncology fellowships at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. Dr. Becher is a physician-scientist who leads a translational laboratory that studies diffuse midline gliomas or DMGs using genetic models.  His laboratory co-discovered the presence of ACVR1 mutations in DMGs and developed the first genetically engineered DMG mouse model.  Dr. Becher’s lab studies the cell-of-origin for DMG, performs functional genomics studies and evaluates novel therapeutics to prioritize into clinical trials.
